Human Centred Pervasive Systems (HuPS)
Motivation and Objectives
HuPS is an opportunity to the community that is currently deploying human centred system in real scenarios to present and discuss their work. It is intended to have a broad spectrum to accommodate different IT/CS areas to foster discussion and future collaborations.
Human centred perspective is gaining momentum. Therefore, traditional areas in Information Technologies (IT) and Computer Science (CS) such as networks, mobiles, embedded system (just to name a few) were able to provide a framework for evolving this vision, but there was a lack of an integrated perspective to offer value to humans. In this context, human centred computing is aggregating all these areas in order to give value to the human factor from person to society. This perspective can be seen as a transversal area where is possible to use IT and software engineering tools to provide a clear value for humans/ users.
This trend is clear when several international organizations such as ACM or IEEE start addressing the human factor as a topic by itself. This new focus on human related subjects can be easily testified through journals and conferences that initially had more traditional technical focus. Good examples are the IEEE Affective computing or the convergence of UbiComp/ Pervasive system to traditional HCI.
